PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

Major joined the firm in 2018.

Prior to joining the firm, Major was an Assistant State Attorney in the Second Judicial Circuit where he handled cases involving domestic violence; burglaries; aggravated assaults and batteries; child abuse and neglect; grand thefts; trafficking, sale, and possession of controlled substances; fraud and forgery; DUIs; and more.

Before becoming a prosecutor, Major served as a clerk for the Honorable Scott Makar at the First District Court of Appeal, gaining experience across a broad spectrum of civil and criminal cases, such as postconviction motions, attorney and judicial misconduct, extraordinary writs, motions to dismiss and suppress, motions for summary judgment, trial procedure, injunctions, expert testimony, family law, contract interpretation, worker’s compensation, foreclosures, child custody, parental rights and standing.

While in law school, Major clerked for Judge Madeline Haikala at the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Alabama, researching and drafting legal memoranda on Social Security and ERISA cases.

Additionally, Major had two internships with the JAG Corps – one with the Air Force and one with the Coast Guard. With the Air Force Review Boards Agency, Major worked on administrative separations, officer grade determinations, ethical issues, Freedom of Information Act responses, and other appellate-level cases. With the Coast Guard’s Legal Service Command, he worked within the military justice unit on courts-martial as well as constitutional, statutory and policy issues.
